Spring cleaning can take as little or as long as you let it. If you are trying to get your organizing done in as little time as possible, there are ways to give you the extra boost you need. The key to Spring clean when you’re short on time is in a few simple concepts. Let’s start talking about them below.
The best success stories always start with a solid plan. And Spring cleaning is no exception. Plans give you purpose and direction, and a path to follow.
When you embark on spring cleaning, it helps to have a plan ready to follow. Of course you will want to be flexible and go with the flow when unexpected events arise, but you will find it is much easier to stay on track when you have a list prepared beforehand of what you wish to accomplish.
Whether it is brief or detailed is up to you, as long as it is there. Make sure you have a list of tools you need to execute your plan. I am sharing some of my favorites below. Be sure to check them out!
There is nothing as motivating as music when you have to Spring Clean when you are short on time. Gather your favorite tunes and prepare a special spring cleaning playlist. Lively music with a good, strong beat is one of the best ways to keep your energy up when you have a big job ahead.
Make sure you do this well in advance of your scheduled cleaning day. Take time to Spring clean your playlist, add a few new tunes, and make sure your speaker & I-pod are charged and ready to go.
You will most certainly be working hard while spring cleaning, but you don’t want to burn out. Be sure to schedule in some breaks for yourself. Even a 15-minute break once every few hours will keep your spirits up. If the weather is nice, head out in the sun for a few minutes. I don’t know about you, but sunlight and warm weather REALLY motivates me.
Don’t forget to drink plenty of water and grab a snack during this time, as it will give you the energy necessary to stick to the task. If you aren’t a fan of water(like me)get some of the liquid flavor that you can add to your water. Or slice up some lemons, limes, cucumbers, and strawberries. Add them to a large pitcher of water & let sit overnight before you have your cleaning day. It adds a hint of flavor, is a great way to keep you hydrated, and adds some detox properties.
The best challenge is one that you have set up for yourself. When you are engaging in Spring cleaning, give yourself the task of beating your own speed. Set a timer and try to beat the minutes or hours you spent in the last room. Be creative in your challenges, and the time will fly by.
At the same time, make sure it is realistic. Some rooms can’t be hurried, so know what your limitations are. The idea is to provide motivation, not discouragement. Obviously the kitchen will take longer than a smaller bathroom, so that would not be one you would attempt. If you have more than 1 bathroom, try it with them.
From young to old, we all love a great reward. When you have a huge task such as spring cleaning to accomplish, it can help to give yourself a specific goal, and reward yourself with something special when that goal has been achieved.
Whether you want to go out for dinner when finished, or get a pedicure with a friend, you deserve to be pampered after all your hard work. This will give you something to look forward to, and to motivate you when you are feeling burnt out and ready to quit.
Spring cleaning can take as little or as long as you let it. If you are trying to get your organizing done in as little time as possible, there are ways to give you the extra boost you need.
Use some of these tips as motivation, and you will notice how much easier it is to keep on track and get the job done. A squeaky clean, organized home comes to those who persist.
