Today I am taking a break from posting about travel in order to share a delicious recipe. Actually, I take that back. This recipe is perfect when you are getting ready to travel. As I mentioned before, who wants to think about cooking when you are busy prepping for vacation. Set it and forget it is a great motto, and this recipe for slow cooker sausage sandwiches is perfect!
I love the fact that this recipe is easily doubled, tripled, and more so that it can be shared for large gatherings or birthday parties! This recipe works for just about anything you can think of. I know I use it on laundry day when I am getting ready for trips.
The best thing about these slow cooker sausage sandwiches is how easy they are to make. Just a few ingredients and a slow cooker is all that you need for a delicious meal. Even my youngest, who is the world’s fussiest eater, will eat them. That works for me!
Slow Cooker Sausage Sandwiches:
To make the crockpot sausage sandwiches, you need the following:
- Italian Sausage(or smoked or hot, whichever you prefer)
- Frozen mixed pepper strips(You can cut them up fresh, but they tend to get really soggy)
- Shredded mozzarella
- Marinara sauce of your choice. I use the Classico Italian Sausage with Peppers variety.
- Steak rolls
And here is the longest part of this whole recipe. Simply pour all the ingredients(except the mozzarella cheese) into your slow cooker. Set on low for 6 hours. That’s it!
When you are ready to serve, simple place your sausage and peppers on a roll.
Top the peppers with the mozzarella cheese.
And there you have it! Enjoy your slow cooker sausage sandwiches with your favorite beverage and you have the perfect pre-trip meal. BONUS TIP: Use a slow cooker liner and disposable dishes so that clean-up is a breeze. You don’t even have dishes to do!
