I have been enjoying my new blog about travel and travel eating. Doing something you love and feel passionate about can make all the difference when you are feeling like you aren’t sure where you stand. In any case, today I am taking a short break blogging about travel. Instead I am sharing my favorite recipe: 5-Ingredient Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteaks.
I enjoy traveling with my family very much. But sometimes I get too consumed with packing and forget about the regular old household things. You know, cooking and cleaning. Did I mention cooking? So I am learning that your number one favorite packing tool is not your packing cubes, but your slow cooker. What? Yes, I am completely serious. While you are washing and packing and making lists, your slow cooker is doing all the work. Sounds pretty good to me! I get it started as soon as I get up, and it is ready to go by suppertime.
The great things about these slow cooker buffalo chicken cheesesteaks is that it literally takes 5 minutes to prepare. Less if you are a “tosser” like me. Neatness doesn’t count, just toss it in, put the lid on, and go. There is no super complicated preparation method, no preheating the oven, no running out to the store because you forgot something. So enjoy this amazing recipe.
5-Ingredient Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteaks:
First things first, you need your 5 ingredients. Yes, just 5 ingredients!!
*Marzetti’s Ultimate Bleu Cheese dressing. This is my absolute favorite, but of course you can use whatever is available to you.
*Philadelphia Whipped Cream Cheese. LOVE this stuff because there is no setting it out early to soften. Just open the container, spoon it in, and you are done.
*Texas Pete Buffalo Sauce. I have tried numerous different ones, but it just doesn’t taste the same! But again, if it isn’t available in your area, use whatever sauce you have.
*Shredded mozzarella of your choice.
*Boneless chicken breasts with fat trimmed off.
To Make The Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteaks:
#1 Lightly spray your crockpot and add the chicken breasts on the bottom.
#2 Add the cream cheese on top.
#3 Spoon in the bleu cheese dressing.
#4 Add 3 quarters of the bottle of buffalo sauce.
#5 Place the lid on top. Turn on low for 6 hours
To Finish The Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteaks:
When time is up, scoop the breasts out of the slow cooker and place on a plate. Using a whisk, vigorously stir the juice that remains in the slow cooker. Then remove most of the liquid from the slow cooker. I keep some to the side in case I need it.
Replace the chicken back into the slow cooker and shred it up. TIME SAVING HACK: Use a hand mixer on the 1st setting. Shreds it in no time!
Add the remaining buffalo sauce on top and then stir.
Top with mozzarella cheese and cover for lid. Cook for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is melted.
Scoop the chicken into your favorite roll and enjoy!!
