Life is so crazy anymore. Between work, and home, and everything in between, it can be very overwhelming. Today I am sharing ways to organize your mind so you can have a positive day.
Sometimes it is hard to get a good grip on the day when your mind is full of many thoughts. You are afraid of forgetting things, or that you haven’t done enough, or anything else that makes you worry. From work to vacation to other important things to remember, your stress level will affect your health too.
Believe it or not, when you organize your mind the night before, your day will generally start off on a positive note. Yeah, not what you might have expected, but it serves two key purposes: letting go of today’s disappointments and setting yourself up for tomorrow’s successes.
Organize Your Mind By Writing Things Down
One of the best ways to clear your mind of clutter is to take the time to write down your feelings. You can either do this in a journal that you keep, or a piece of paper that you throw away once you’re finished.
The second part of writing things down is to grab your planner, and jot down what you need to do the next day. Have a way to check things off or cross things out so you have a visual of everything you accomplished.
Recent studies indicate that jotting down negative thoughts really does help to clear your mind and make you feel better.
Train Your Mind Through Meditation
More and more stressed-out individuals are using meditation to clear the clutter in their heads. When life is hectic, do you ever feel as though you’re having a non-stop conversation (with yourself) in your head?
Meditation allows you to focus on a single thing, which in turn helps to corral your thoughts when they start to wonder. And when you stay focused on a single thing, it is easier to solve the problem before moving on to the next thing.
I will admit, mediation is something I didn’t understand at first. I didn’t think it was would really work. But I find if I take some time in the morning before I head to work, the mediation does help with the runaway thought.
There are some days I need to do some extra meditation during a quiet moment or a break. I love how it allows me to reground myself so I can continue my day without stressing myself out as much.
Spend Some Time Running To Organize Your Mind
I will preface this part of my post that this isn’t something that I do. Running and my knees don’t mix well, so while I don’t directly participate in running to clear my mind, I know many out there that do.
Not only does running help to eliminate a cluttered mind, it also benefits your body in several other ways. Listening to music when you run is even more beneficial. Why? A Ohio State University study discovered that when someone exercises with music, it activates the area in the brain that deals with a higher level of mental function. Participants who had the advantage of listening to music did better on fluency tests than those who did not.
Rest Your Mind With A Refreshing Nap
Now, I will freely admit that napping is a great way to wind down after a busy day and to get you in the right place to organize your mind. Taking a nap, even a short one, goes a long way in clearing up mental fatigue and clutter in the mind. Believe it or not, taking a ten-minute nap helps to increase both productivity and alertness. Getting a good night’s sleep is all the better.
So, the next time you’re feeling mentally overwhelmed, chances are that taking a short nap will help you to be more organized for the rest of the day.
Spending Time With A Pet Can Help Organize Your Mind
Now, this is my last AND best tip to help organize your mind: spend time with your pet. For most people, pets aren’t just animals – they’re beloved members of the family. Spending time with your favorite pet elevates your mood and makes it easier to get through the day.
In the event that you don’t have a pet, take a few minutes to watch one of the thousands of cute pet videos on the internet. You’ll get a dose of cuteness without any strings attached.
So there are just a few things to help you get started. I have a busy holiday season coming up, so I will be using these techniques more than ever. Do you have any suggestions as well?
