You just had an AMAZING vacation, but now you realize that you are back to real life. You feel sad & tired, and dreading going back to work. This is known as the vacation hangover.
It isn’t fun, is it? Just happened to me earlier this week. I had extended time of before and during our vacation, and it was a much needed break. It was just my husband and I, and it was extremely nice to have him(and his attention)all to myself without worrying about all the things we needed to get done.
So what can you do to get over your vacation hangover? Here are 4 simple steps to get you on your way.

Step 1: View Your Pictures And Videos
I will freely admit that I am a photo junkie. I LOVE to take pictures so that when I am at home, I can remember(and blog)about the wonderful things that we have seen or experienced. I totally think this is the best way to get over a vacation hangover. My husband laughs at me because there are vacations that I come home with hundreds of photos.
Ironically, my husband and I came home from the Bahamas recently. It was our first time going there, so I should have been taking tons of pictures, right? As it turns out, I took less pictures than I have ever done on a trip. Why? I was so busy enjoying it that I forgot to photograph some of it. Thankfully my husband was also taking pictures, so we have most things covered.

Step 2: Spend Time Journaling About Your Trip
This is something I want to work on more. For this trip, I purchased a travel journal just for the Bahamas. I decided to have it specific to the location, so that I can grab them and start writing/reading. Since this was our first trip to somewhere other than Jamaica, I enjoyed getting a new journal.
Step 3: Set Up Your Souvenirs Around Your Home
This is probably one of my other favorite ways to get over the vacation hangover. T-shirts are always at the top of my list to purchase when we are on vacation. So I generally grab them first and get them in the washer, so I can get them clean and ready to wear.
Pictures and trinkets are another favorite of mine. One of things we did while we were in the Bahamas was swim with the pigs. We arranged a tour with a local guide, and it was the most amazing trip ever. So I made sure to get a wooden pig to set next to our picture. It is the perfect way to combine trip memories.
Step 4: Plan Another Trip(And Best Tip To Cure A Vacation Hangover
So now that you have seen the first 3 tips, there is only one other step that you can use to cure your vacation hangover is to plan another trip! When we leave our Wildwood vacation, we always book for the next year. It makes leaving a little less painful.
And, while it was extremely sad to leave our Sandals vacation, we took the time to book another trip for next year. My husband and I have decided that we are going to make it a priority to vacation each year, just the two of us. Earlier this year, I lost my Mother unexpectedly. Now, this was an eye-opening experience.
In all the years growing up, I never had the impression that my parents actually loved each other. But seeing how lost my Dad was without her hit home. I don’t want to look back when we were older and think “why didn’t we take another trip.”
