It’s always fun to decorate for the holidays, and it’s especially fun to decorate your place of outdoor relaxation. Even if you can’t sit outside all the time in your patio space, you can still have fun making it fun and inviting. Here are some ideas that you can use to decorate your outdoor space for Fall.
I enjoy this time of year very much. Well, except for the Fall cleaning I need to do before I can start decorating. And sometimes deciding what I want to put out. I will admit, I tend to start Fall decorating as soon as September 1st rolls around. But you do what works well for you.
Decorating For Fall The Traditional Way
Pumpkins – This is a classic decoration to put out on your patio for Halloween. To go a step further, you can carve your pumpkins. This is a festive decoration that many people who celebrate Halloween take part in every year. Place the pumpkins on the steps of your patio for passers-by to be able to see and enjoy.
There are also some great pumpkins out there made of outdoor-friendly materials. If you opt for these, you will be able to enjoy them year after year. You can also have a mixture of the two if you enjoy having a jack-o-lantern to carve with your family.
I go a step further and use the wooden pumpkins my husband’s grandfather made for me. They are coated, and stand up well to the elements. They are perfect to help decorate your outdoor space for Fall.
Corn Stalks and Hay bales– If you are lucky enough to live near a cornfield, these are an inexpensive way to do decorate. At our local craft store, they do have synthetic hay bales that are supposed to stand up to the elements. We only used them once so far, so I can comment yet. They do look cute though.
Mums and other Fall flowers– I think this is one of my favorite ways to decorate for Fall. Mums are so pretty, and come in so many Fall-themed colors. You can use real ones to plant later, or have artificial ones to use year after year.
Using A Halloween Theme To Decorate Your Outdoor Space For Fall
Giant spider web – This decoration will add a spooky element wherever you decide to place it on your patio. You can use a lot of different options for it: from spray cobwebs to plastic ones, you can even make one out of string. The sky’s the limit, so have fun with it.
Make sure you add a spider to it as well. There are some great lighted spiders available, so you can have so much fun with it!
Skeleton or pumpkin or ghost greeter – These are another decoration that adds spookiness to the outdoors. You can place this on the steps of your patio or right next to the door. This is a festive decoration and is yet another classic.
Bonus: make sure it glows in the dark!
Simple Door Hangers In A Fall Theme
If you aren’t big on decorating, or just want something quick and simple, a wreath on your front door in a Fall theme can be just what you need.
Whatever you decide, your home will be a reflection of you and your style. I love that I was able to share several different ways for your to decorate your outdoor space for Fall. I know that not everyone celebrates Halloween, so general Fall themed decor works just as well.
